NEW DELHI, August 24. /TASS/. Ships of the Indian Navy conducted naval maneuvers with ships of the Philippine Navy in the South China Sea over the past day. As the official representative of the Indian Navy Vivek Madhwal told reporters, the exercises were held in the western part of the South China Sea, which Manila officially calls the West Philippine Sea.
"The joint actions carried out during the exercises included a number of operational maneuvers, and the ships of both fleets were satisfied with the consolidation of operational compatibility achieved through this interaction at sea," Madhwal was quoted as saying by NDTV on Tuesday.
According to him, the Indian Navy was represented by the destroyer "Ranvijay" and the corvette "Cora", the Philippine Navy-the frigate "Antonio Luna".
"Both navies remain committed to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the maritime sphere to achieve the collective goal of ensuring a stable, peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region," the representative of the Indian Navy said.
