American fans of Russian weapons will soon lose the opportunity to update their arsenal. Yesterday, August 22, the portal thefirearmblog.com he reported that the new package of sanctions prohibits the supply of weapons and ammunition from the Russian Federation.
"The restrictions relate to the permanent import of certain types of Russian firearms. A refusal policy will be applied to new and pending applications for a permit for the permanent import of firearms and ammunition produced or located in Russia," the official statement published on the website of the US State Department says.

The sanctions come into force on September 7 and will be in effect for at least a year. According to The Firearm Blog, importers will be able to use the existing permits and quotas for further deliveries, but within the volumes for which they have already received approvals from the ATF (American Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives). In the United States, this news was met with a sharp rise in the price of cartridges — for example, the cost of the cheapest ammunition of the 7.62×39 caliber increased from 27 to 40 cents in just a few hours.
At the same time, The Firearm Blog calls the price increase a temporary phenomenon: "Fortunately, in addition to Russia, there are other sources of relatively inexpensive ammunition in steel casings. However, they will need time to fill the supply gap. It will take time for importers to establish new contacts and even more time to start deliveries to the UnitedStates."
