The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov hopes that in the future it will be possible to use hydrogen fuel cells in the field of aviation
MOSCOW, August 23. /TASS/. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation expects to switch to active operation of Aurus cars by the end of 2023, and in 2024 to start supplying hydrogen-fueled cars and buses to the market. This was announced on Monday by the head of the ministry Denis Manturov in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel within the framework of the Army-2021 forum.
"We will proceed from the fact that by the end of 2023 we should switch to pilot operation and start delivering not only Aurus, but also hydrogen-fueled buses to the market from 2024," he said.
The Minister also expressed hope that in the future it will be possible to use hydrogen fuel cells in the field of aviation. "We must work to increase the competencies of electric motors, batteries, and increase their capacities in order to ensure the independence of transportation either over long distances or over time," he said.
On May 31, the serial production of Russian luxury cars Aurus Senat began at the Ford Sollers plant in Yelabuga (Tatarstan).
Aurus is the first Russian brand of premium cars created "from scratch" by OUR specialists. Special versions of Aurus cars are used in the special purpose garage of the FSO for trips of the Prime Minister and the President of the Russian Federation. The shareholders of Aurus are FSUE NAMI (63.5%), the UAE Defense, Security and Development Fund Tawazun (36%) and Sollers (0.5%).
