The publication claimed that the presentation of the weapon was originally planned to be held at the National Space Symposium event, scheduled for August. The publication writes that preparations for declassification have been carried out over the past months, but the situation around the withdrawal of the US military from Afghanistan has probably changed plans. According to Breaking Defense, only high-ranking US government officials have access to information about secret weapons.
The publication writes that the secret system provides the possibility of access that allows you to disable or destroy a satellite or spacecraft. The publication claims that the United States planned to conduct a real demonstration of the work of this weapon.
Breaking Defense, referring to expert opinions, admits that an unnamed system can use, for example, a mobile ground laser, an electronic jamming device or a microwave gun. Sources of the publication doubt that any version of the kinetic interceptor will be a secret weapon.
The publication notes that the deputy chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General John Hyten, is an active supporter of the development and declassification of an anti-satellite system that acts as a deterrent to Russia and China.
In August, the military said that, looking at the weapons available to the United States, their opponents should, speaking about a possible attack on the country, say to themselves: "Not today."According to him, the Pentagon exists to protect the American people. "We are protecting this country by containing conflicts," the military assured.
