KUBINKA /Moscow region/, August 22. /TASS/. The Ministry of Defense of India may receive the first AK-203 submachine guns, issued under a license by the joint Russian-Indian enterprise Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL), within a few months after the signing of the corresponding firm contract. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the Kalashnikov Group of Companies (GC) (part of the Rostec state Corporation) during the international military-technical forum "Army-2021".
"As the negotiating party responsible for the technical component of the project, we will be ready to start its implementation both in the supply part and in the part of setting up the technological process for the production of automatic machines in India. From the moment the contract comes into force, it will take a few months before the start of deliveries of the first machine guns produced in India," Kalashnikov informed.
The joint Russian-Indian enterprise IRRPL was founded in the city of Korva (Uttar Pradesh) in March 2019. It is assumed that the company will produce about 700 thousand AK-203 Kalashnikov assault rifles under license with 100% localization of production.
Earlier, the Indian newspaper The Print reported that India signed a deal with Russia on the purchase of 70 thousand of the latest Kalashnikov assault rifles. Sources also told the publication that work is also underway to start production of 600 thousand AK203 assault rifles at the IRRPL facilities.
