Kubinka (Moscow region). August 22. INTERFAX-The Kalashnikov Concern is negotiating with foreign partners on the supply of a new ZALA VTOL hybrid unmanned complex, the concern's press service told Interfax.
"Export is one of the priority areas for the development of our unmanned direction. The ZALA VTOL complex presented at the exhibition in the UAE has already found its foreign customer, a number of Latin American countries have put it into operation. Negotiations are actively underway with several other partners, " the press service reported.
As previously reported in the concern, the main purpose of ZALA VTOL is monitoring and aerial photography of any hard-to-reach places and areal objects. It can be used to control industrial infrastructure, create photo plans of the terrain, and ensure the safety of ground objects. The flight configuration changes depending on the task at hand. The electric power plant allows the device to stay in the air for up to 4 hours, providing a flight range of up to 200 km in an airplane configuration.
Also, according to the press service, the kamikaze drone "CUBE" is currently undergoing state tests. "We are ready to deliver the required amount to the GRAU warehouses upon completion of the tests," Kalashnikov said.
On February 22, at the IDEX defense exhibition in the United Arab Emirates, Dmitry Tarasov, who then held the position of general director of the Kalashnikov concern, said that the state tests of the KUB-UAV drone are planned to be completed this year, its export version is being developed.
The Kalashnikov concern's attack drones have been tested during combat operations in Syria, the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, said in December 2020.
In 2019, Kalashnikov introduced "kamikaze drones ""KUB-UAV" and "Lancet", developed by its subsidiary ZALA Aero. Such drones are also called "barrage ammunition" - in fact, it is a projectile that makes a long controlled flight over the battlefield and explodes after reaching the target.
