Moscow. August 21. INTERFAX - Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Kremlin's press service reported.
"The situation around Afghanistan was discussed in detail. The importance of ensuring stability and civil peace in the country, strict observance of order and legality was noted. The priority nature of the tasks to combat terrorism and drug trafficking is emphasized. The presidents agreed to strengthen bilateral coordination on the Afghan issue, " the message reads.
During the conversation, issues of trade and economic cooperation, primarily in the energy sector, were also touched upon, the press service reported.
Putin and Erdogan also exchanged condolences in connection with the crash in Turkey on August 14 of this year of the Be-200ChS aircraft of the Russian Defense Ministry, on board of which were both Russian and Turkish citizens. "At the same time, Erdogan stressed the significant contribution of Russian pilots to the fight against forest fires in the Republic and expressed sincere gratitude for the assistance provided," the Kremlin noted.
