Robert Strider, Deputy Director of the US Office of Military Hypersonic Projects, revealed plans for the development of the Dark Eagle hypersonic missile during a speech at a conference on space and missile defense in Alabama. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the publication of The National Interest.
Strider said that the new missile is a long-range hypersonic weapon and, presumably, the US army will have it in 2023. "All our missiles are 34-inch warheads," he said.
According to the expert, the "Dark Eagle" will create new problems for the opponents of the United States. He threatened that one battery of new missiles is enough to completely destroy the enemy. According to him, the success of the Russian and Chinese military-industrial complexes in the field of hypersonic weapons pushed the Pentagon to develop a new missile.
Earlier, the general director of the Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation (KTRV), Boris Obnosov , said that the United States may have hypersonic weapons after 2023. He admitted that the United States has serious developments in many areas, so Russia should not stop.
