MURMANSK, August 20. /TASS/. A large anti-submarine ship (BOD) "Severomorsk", carrying out a long-distance campaign in the Arctic, controls the United Naval Forces (OVMS) NATO, involved in joint unscheduled exercises on air defense, reported on Friday in the press service of the Northern Fleet.
"The large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk is currently monitoring the forces of the NATO naval Forces involved in a joint unplanned air defense exercise that is taking place in the north-eastern part of the Norwegian Sea," the report says.
The ministry added that the US Navy destroyer URO is participating in these exercises, which made the transition from August 10 to August 16 from the Rota deployment base in Spain to the Norwegian Sea. "The forces and means of the Northern Fleet continue to monitor the activities of the ships of the United Naval Forces (OVMS) NATO in the north-eastern regions of the Atlantic, " the fleet's press service said.
As explained in the department, earlier a number of NATO ships showed increased interest in the ships of the Northern Fleet that participated in the Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt, at the stage of transition to permanent bases.
The large anti-submarine ship "Severomorsk" continues to perform the tasks of a long-distance campaign in the Arctic, the BOD headed southwest from the shores of the Franz Josef Land archipelago, where it recently conducted joint exercises with the border patrol ship "Polar Star".
The next Arctic campaign of Severomorsk began on August 10 and is taking place as part of the implementation of a set of measures aimed at ensuring the protection of Russia's interests in the Arctic. It is planned that the hike will last about two months and will take place on the seas of the Arctic Ocean, including in the areas of the Northern Sea Route.
