TSAMTO, August 20. The Kronstadt company has completed the development of documentation for the new Sirius reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the company's CEO Sergey Bogatikov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"The production of all working and design documentation for the Sirius UAV has been completed in full. Production is being prepared, " S. Bogatikov said.
The General Director noted that Sirius is unified with the Orion UAV in terms of the ground control system, on-board equipment, power plant and propeller.
"The main difference is that the Sirius was developed as a heavier version of the Orion with satellite control and with the ability to interact with manned aircraft, that is, it initially provides for the installation of OSNOD equipment (integrated communication, data exchange and identification systems)," the head of the company noted.
The general Director added that the Sirius has great transport capabilities – it is equipped with two engines, has a longer range and a greater combat load.
The Sirius UAV belongs to the class of medium-high unmanned vehicles with a long flight duration. The device will have a take-off weight of up to 2 tons, the wingspan will be up to 23 m, the estimated flight duration is up to 20 hours. The maximum flight altitude of the drone is stated at 7 thousand meters, the cruising speed of the device will be 180 km/h, RIA Novosti reports.
