The complex detects enemy artillery not with the help of radar, but thanks to a new principle of combining thermal and sound reconnaissance

MOSCOW, August 19. /TASS/. The holding company "Roselectronics" of the state corporation " Rostec "will present for the first time at the international forum" Army-2021 "the complex of sound and thermal exploration" Penicillin " in the export version. It is also planned to demonstrate its work within the framework of the forum, the Rostec press service told reporters on Thursday.

"Unlike most similar systems, Penicillin detects enemy artillery not with the help of radar, but thanks to a new principle of combining thermal and sound reconnaissance, which makes it impossible to suppress it electronically. The complex records acoustic and thermal signals from shots and explosions, gives out the exact coordinates of the location of the guns and puts them on an electronic map. The time to receive coordinates from a single target does not exceed 5 seconds, " the press service quotes the words of Rostec industrial director Bekhan Ozdoev.

According to the state corporation, depending on the modification, the complex can detect enemy artillery, mortars, multiple launch rocket systems and positions of anti-aircraft and tactical missiles at a distance of up to 38 km. At the same time, the minimum deployment time of the complex in a combat position is only 20 minutes.

The complex was developed and manufactured by the Vega Concern enterprise (part of Roselectronics) - Research Institute "Vector". "Penicillin" has successfully passed state tests and is already being delivered to the Russian army. Together with Rosoboronexport, we are currently negotiating with several potential foreign customers, including from among the operators of Post-3M radio intelligence stations. Within the framework of the forum, we plan to hold several presentations of the complex and demonstrate its work, "the press service quotes the words of the general director of the Vega concern Vyacheslav Mikheev.

The complex consists of two vehicles on the Kamaz chassis: a sound-measuring machine and a sound-thermal reconnaissance machine. Depending on the delivery option, the complex can include from two (one car of each type) to six units of equipment.
