"This could be the second largest civilian evacuation operation in our history," he said at a press conference at the Pentagon.
In turn, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that the United States is aimed at increasing the ability to remove people from Kabul on a daily basis.
Earlier in August, the Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) took control of the territory of Afghanistan, including Kabul. In this situation, many foreigners and Afghans tend to leave the country through the Kabul International Airport.
