The peculiarity of the" Sula " is the compact size of the antenna web, which allows you to track the movement of satellites, the Almaz-Antey concern reported

MOSCOW, August 18. /TASS/. The newest radar station (radar) for observing space objects "Sula" developed by the company " Radiophysics "(part of the concern of East Kazakhstan Region "Almaz-Antey") it is capable of detecting space debris at a distance of up to 6 thousand km. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the concern, which for the first time presented the station at the IDEF-2021 defense exhibition that opened on August 17 in Istanbul.

"The peculiarity of Sula is the compact size of the antenna web, which allows you to track the movement of satellites, space debris and other objects in orbit at a distance of up to 6 thousand km. The station has a sectional-modular architecture principle, its structures can be transported by rail, which allows it to be deployed on the ground or on the territory of a military unit in a short time," the concern said.

It is noted that the radar antenna is built on the basis of a modular digital active phased array antenna, which provides the station with high information characteristics, bandwidth and noise immunity. "The radar provides receiving coordinate and non-coordinate information about space objects. The information obtained during the operation is recorded on non-volatile media, and is also transmitted to the consumer in real time, " the holding said.

According to the developers, "Sula" is controlled from a command and computing point made in a pre-fabricated module. The entire radar infrastructure is a whole complex of technical structures with a size of no more than 300x400 m. The station consists of an antenna post with a cooling and air conditioning system, communication and data transmission facilities, an engineering complex with an autonomous uninterruptible power supply system and a fire station, a weather station, a repair and training base.

The IDEF-2021 defense exhibition is being held in Istanbul from August 17 to 20.
