Moscow. August 17. INTERFAX-The construction of the fifth-generation Checkmate light fighter demonstrator cost about $30 million, a source in the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) told Interfax.
"$30 million is the cost of a sample aircraft. We can't announce the cost of production of a serial car yet, " the agency interlocutor said.
As Interfax reported, the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, estimated the cost of the new fighter at $25-30 million.
Earlier, the head of the UAC, Yuri Slyusar, told Interfax that Checkmate will be produced at the plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, in the same place where its sample was produced. He also did not specify the cost of deploying the production of a new fighter.

According to the developers, Checkmate is able to overcome up to 3 thousand km, accelerate to two sound speeds and carry 7,400 kg of combat load. It will be able to simultaneously attack up to six air, sea and ground targets, including attack drones and fifth-generation foreign aircraft.
The volume of deliveries of the fighter for the next 15 years is estimated at 300 machines. It will compete with the American F-35 Lightning II and the Swedish JAS-39 Gripen.
