The state corporation previously announced plans to put telescopes on the lunar base to monitor dangerous asteroids and comets
MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. Roscosmos plans to use the Astronomical Research Center (ANC) to create equipment that will be installed on the Lunar Scientific Base to monitor the asteroid-comet danger. This was reported to TASS by a source in the rocket and space industry.
"The ANC will be involved in the creation of equipment for an Automated warning system about dangerous situations in near - Earth space for tracking asteroids, which will be installed at the Lunar Scientific Station," the agency's interlocutor noted.
Earlier, the Director General of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that the specialists of the ANC will be involved in the creation of a Lunar scientific base and space monitoring equipment, which will be installed on the Russian orbital Service Station.
In November 2019, the executive director of Roscosmos for advanced programs and science, Alexander Bloshenko, said in an interview with TASS that Roscosmos plans to put telescopes for monitoring dangerous asteroids and comets at the lunar base, which is supposed to be built at the south pole of the Earth's natural satellite.
The Astronomical Research Center is a non-governmental scientific organization that has created a network of observatories in Russia and abroad.
