The Brazilian company Embraer has started flight tests of the electric agricultural aircraft EMB-203 Ipanema. During the first flights, specialists checked the controllability of the aircraft, the temperature control system and operational safety.
Embraer aircraft conglomerate has been developing an all-electric aircraft based on the EMB-203 since 2019. In 2004, the EMB-203 with a 320 horsepower piston engine became the first production aircraft in the world certified for flights on renewable fuel-ethanol.
The length of the EMB-203 is 7.4 meters, the height is 2.2 meters, and the wingspan is 13.3 meters. It can fly at speeds of up to 230 kilometers per hour for a distance of up to 938 kilometers. The developers do not disclose technical details about the electric version of the aircraft. It is only known that it has a power plant from the Brazilian company WEG and a battery from the Portuguese EDP. Ground tests of the aircraft started last fall.
Embraer announced on August 13 that it had started flight tests of an electric agricultural aircraft. They are held at the company's facility in Sao Paulo. The purpose of the first flights was to test the controllability, control system and safety in the operation of the aircraft, and compare the results with those that have already been obtained during computer simulations.
In addition to the electric agricultural aircraft, Embraer is engaged in the creation of an air taxi Eve. Earlier we wrote that it will be designed to transport passengers in cities and suburbs.
