Baku. August 14. INTERFAX-AZERBAIJAN-Azerbaijan wants to sign a peace treaty with Armenia and start the process of delineating the border, but has not yet received a response from Yerevan to these proposals, Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev said.
"We have repeatedly voiced our position. I have openly expressed our position on this issue several times: we want to sign a peace treaty. Armenia and Azerbaijan should recognize each other's territorial integrity and begin the process of delimitation, i.e. the definition of borders," Aliyev said in an interview with the Turkish TV channel CNN Turk.
According to him, Armenia has not yet given a positive response to this proposal. "Apparently, Armenia is not ready for this or is against it. I have already said that this is a big mistake, and they will regret it, since our offer will not be at the table forever. If they are against it, then let them openly say that they do not want to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan," Aliyev said.
At the same time, he noted that "long-term peace will come to the region" if Armenia is "ready to recognize" the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
