The monetary allowance of Russian military pilots, excluding bonuses, is comparable to the remuneration of civilian pilots, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation for military and political work, Major General Alexander Maksimtsev, told reporters on Saturday.
"The salary of military pilots is decent, it is comparable with colleagues of other structures and departments, civil aviation. Taking into account the available monetary allowance, allowances for flight work, combat work, combat duty, as well as performing special tasks, such as extinguishing fires, evacuating citizens and others," Maksimtsev said.
The general also listed measures to support the pilots. "The Air Force flight personnel have both financial and non-financial benefits. For example, a priority has been created for combat pilots in terms of providing housing. Medical support for pilots is organized at the highest level, the medical condition is constantly monitored, because the pilot flies while he is healthy, " the deputy head of the committee noted.
He added that after completing combat missions or close to combat tasks, the Ministry of Defense sends pilots to sanatoriums for a rehabilitation course using the latest medical technologies to restore their physical and psychological condition. "The main task is to remove the psychophysiological load and restore physical readiness," he explained.
On Saturday, the Air Force Day is celebrated in Patriot Park. In particular, an aviation show with the participation of the aerobatic groups "Swifts" and "Russian Knights"is taking place in the sky over Kubinka. On August 12, the Air Force celebrated the 109th anniversary of its formation.
As Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted earlier in his congratulations, over the years of its existence, the Air Force has made an invaluable contribution to strengthening the country's defense. The head of the military department stressed that today Air Force pilots are performing their professional duty in Syria, are on combat duty, provide assistance in eliminating the consequences of natural disasters, and solve other important state tasks.
