The guided missile "Stugna", unlike the well-known ATGM "Stugna-P", is fired from the barrel of the gun
Speaking during his speech at the International Defense Investment Forum on August 12 this year [in Kiev] about the importance of state support for the development of domestic defense industry enterprises, Oleg Korostelev, General Designer-General Director of the Luch State Design Bureau [Kiev], cited the Algerian contract as an example.
"We made, once upon a time, a Stugna receiver, this is a 100-mm rocket. We sold several thousand of them to Algeria and compensated (the development) - about $ 3 million was spent there in this case, and we received a contract in the region of $ 50 million, " Oleg Korostelev said.
We are talking about a shot developed in the early 2000s (adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2006) by the State Design Bureau "Luch" with a 100-mm "Stugna" guided missile (product 111), which is designed to defeat fixed and mobile modern armored targets when firing from a T-55 tank or an MT-12 "Rapier" artillery gun.
The state Company for the Export and Import of Military and Special Purpose Products and Services Ukrspetsexport exported in September 2018 by sea to the Port of Algiers for the Ministry of National Defense of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria:
- technical documentation to ensure the work of the workshop for monitoring, diagnostics and extending the service life of aircraft weapons (R-27, R-73 (L, K), X-29 (L, T) missiles, AVU-ET fuses, KAB-500, KAB-1500 bombs) in the amount of $ 2,630,780.;
- equipment and tools for equipping this workshop weighing 23364 kg in the amount of $ 3,074,632.;
- shots with an anti-tank guided missile product-111 "Stugna" - 25 pieces with zav. by numbers 2611111301129, 2611111301143, 2611111301081, 2611112301267, 2611114302316, 2611114302733, 2611114302050, 2611113403094, 2611113403049, 2611114403417, 2611114403135 etc. weighing 920 kg in the amount of $ 460,000.
Thus, the price of one shot from the ATGM "Stugna" was 18.4 thousand dollars.
Actually, the "Stugna" can be called a kind of "mother" of the entire line of guided Ukrainian weapons, because this model was the first of the guided missiles, it was developed by the State Design Bureau "Luch" and began to be mass-produced already in independent Ukraine.
Speaking during his speech at the International Defense Investment Forum on August 12 this year about the importance of state support for the development of domestic defense industry enterprises, Oleg Korostelev, General Designer-General Director of the State Design Bureau "Luch", cited the Algerian contract as an example.
Since the creation of the Stugn, the Luch State Design Bureau has managed to develop about a dozen guided missiles of various calibers and for various weapons that are similar in principle of operation
"We made, once upon a time, a Stugna receiver, this is a 100-mm rocket. We sold several thousand of them to Algeria and compensated (the development) - about $ 3 million was spent there in this case, and we received a contract in the region of $ 50 million, " Oleg Korostelev said.
At the same time, he did not specify exactly when this contract was concluded and the timing of its implementation, but it is known that these missiles were shipped to Algeria, for example, in 2019. So, information about the supply of a batch of 25 shots of "Stugna" in July 2019 was published on one of the resources that track export-import operations.
One of the small batches of ATGM "Stugna" was delivered to Algeria in 2019.
Note: as shown above, the date is incorrect - the delivery took place in September 2018.
