About the plane
At the end of July, the chief designer of PJSC Il (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of the Rostec State Corporation) Sergei Ganin told TASS that the tests of the aircraft are on schedule. According to him, in the future, the Il-112B will be able to update the fleet of Russian light military transport aircraft, which is dominated by An-26 aircraft.
The IL-112B is the first military transport aircraft developed in Russia from scratch in the post-Soviet period. Work on its creation has been carried out since 2014 at the Ilyushin Aviation Complex. It is capable of carrying up to 5 tons of cargo and is designed for transporting personnel, military equipment, weapons. When creating the machine, completely domestic components, systems and equipment were used. The aircraft is being created to replace the turboprop An-26 and An-24. The first flight of the Il-112B took place on March 30, 2019, the second-two years later. Two modifications are being prepared for release: for civil aviation (Il-112T) and military transport aviation (Il-112B). Serial production is planned from 2023. The Voronezh Aircraft Factory will be able to produce up to 12 Il-112B aircraft per year.
