MINSK, August 11. /TASS/. The Armed Forces of Belarus have launched operational and tactical air defense exercises with live firing, the second stage of which will be held jointly with the Russian military at a training ground in the Russian Federation. This was announced on Wednesday by the Belarusian Ministry of Defense in its Telegram channel.
"From August 10 to 26, an operational and tactical exercise with live firing with anti-aircraft missile troops is being conducted under the leadership of the Deputy commander of the Air Force (Air Force) and air defense forces," the Belarusian Defense Ministry said in a statement. - The first stage of the exercise will be held on the territory of Belarus, the second-after the relocation-at the Ashuluk training ground of the Russian Federation [in the Astrakhan region]. Combat launches will be carried out there."
During the exercises, the Belarusian military will focus its main efforts on improving the coherence of the control bodies and military units of the anti-aircraft missile forces, improving the skills of covering troops and objects from air strikes in a complex, rapidly changing situation with the use of high-intensity electronic interference by the enemy. The servicemen will work out tactics to combat unmanned aerial vehicles, taking into account the experience gained by Russia during regional conflicts, the Belarusian Defense Ministry notes.
The commander of the air and missile defense forces of the Russian Armed Forces, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Yuri Grekhov, said in April that the joint exercises of the Joint Air Defense System of the CIS countries "Combat Commonwealth-2021" will be held in September this year at the military ranges of Russia (Ashuluk), Kazakhstan (Sary-Shagan) and Tajikistan (Harb-Maidon and Chorukh-Daron). Combat crews of the air defense forces and the Air Forces of the armed forces of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will take part in the exercises.
