Ukrainian military expert Oleg Zhdanov in his material for the publication " The editor -in-chief " suggested that the Sarmat missile system being prepared by Russia will have no analogues in the world, and that no air defense system will be able to intercept this missile.
The material is written for the recent report of Roscosmos on the successful completion of ground tests of the complex, which should enter service with the Russian army as early as 2022.
The expert stressed that the Sarmat has an impressive flight range — it enters near-Earth orbit, and it is able to hit any target on the planet.
"In theory, there is no protection against such weapons in the world. Because these rockets are capable of reaching hypersound, when the speed will be 5-7 mach (the speed of sound. - Ed.), and modern missile defense systems will see such missiles, but they will not take them, " he said.
At the same time, Zhdanov stressed that Ukraine is not threatened by a theoretical nuclear strike from Russia — the two countries are too close to each other.
While the Sarmat is still being prepared for release, on August 10, Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Krivoruchko announced on the single day of acceptance of military products that the Strategic Missile Forces will be reinforced with 15 new intercontinental ballistic missiles by the end of 2021.
