The Syrian authorities control more than 90% of the country's territories. This was announced on August 10 by the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, during the All-Russian Youth Educational Forum "Territory of Meanings".
"Russia helped Syria. Because the whole world was fighting international terrorism, but by the time we entered there, only 12% of the territory of Syria was controlled by the Syrian government. To date, this is more than 90% and life there continues to gradually normalize, " Shoigu said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian servicemen continued patrolling on the territory of the Syrian province of Aleppo.
The main feature of patrolling in Aleppo is that Russian equipment moves not only on asphalt, but also on gravel, where probably sleeping cells of illegal formations have been preserved.
The column overcomes the key points of the route, but the path itself changes on a constant basis, due to security reasons.
Before that, on July 16, the Russian military delivered food packages to the settlement of Al-Karamma in the Syrian province of Aleppo. The village has suffered seriously in recent years, the militants were expelled from here only in 2020.
The armed conflict in Syria has been going on since 2011. In 2017, the victory over the terrorist group "Islamic State" (banned in the Russian Federation) in Syria and Iraq was announced. In some parts of the country, the cleansing of militants continues.
