The second regiment of intercontinental ballistic missiles with a hypersonic planning unit "Avangard" will take up combat duty in the Strategic Missile Forces by 2023, the commander of the 13th Missile Division, Major General Andrey Cherevko, said during a single day of acceptance of military products.
"In the period up to 2023, it is planned to put another missile regiment on combat duty in the 13th Missile Division with the Avangard strategic missile system," Cherevko reported to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
The first regiment, armed with the Avangard, took up combat duty in the Orenburg Missile Division in an incomplete composition in December 2019.
"In the 13th Missile Division, measures are continuing to re-equip with new strategic missile systems. In accordance with the task set, the completion of the first missile regiment with the Avangard missile system is planned for combat duty in 2021, "Cherevko reported to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during the single day of acceptance of military products.
"Work is underway to prepare two mine launchers with missiles. The re-equipment is carried out according to the approved schedule. The loading of missiles into mine launchers and bringing them into readiness for combat use is planned for the fourth quarter of 2021," he said.
In December 2020, it became known from the collection "The main results of the activities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2012-2020", which was available to RIA Novosti, that the Strategic Missile Forces had already received four Avangard strategic missile systems.
