MOSCOW, August 3. /TASS/. The next correction of the orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) in preparation for the launch of the Soyuz MS-19 manned transport vehicle (TPK) will take place on August 19. This is stated in the message of Roscosmos, distributed on Tuesday.
"In order to form ballistic conditions before the launch and docking of the Soyuz MS-19 transport manned spacecraft, as well as the undocking and landing of the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft, specialists of the Russian Mission Control Center will correct the altitude of the orbit of the International Space Station," the state corporation noted.
As specified in Roscosmos, the maneuver will be carried out using the engines of the Zvezda service module. According to preliminary information, the engines will be switched on on August 19, 2021 at 07: 04 Moscow time and will work for 47 seconds. "The pulse value will be 0.67 m/s. After this maneuver, the average height of the ISS should increase by 1.2 km and reach 420.84 km, " Roscosmos added.
The previous correction of the ISS orbit was carried out on June 24.
Currently, there are seven crew members on board the ISS: Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Pyotr Dubrov, NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hai, Shane Kimbrough and Megan MacArthur, European Space Agency astronaut Tom Pesquet, and JAXA astronaut Akihiko Hoshide.
