TSAMTO, August 3. The German Federal Armament, Information Technology and Maintenance Agency (BAAINBw) has signed a contract with Saab for the supply and integration of new radars and fire control equipment on Brandenburg-class frigates.
According to a press release from the Swedish company, the contract value is about 4.6 billion rubles. Swedish kronor ($537 million). The equipment will be delivered in the period from 2021 to 2030.
In particular, Saab, as a supplier of combat systems and an integrator of work on the overhaul of frigates, will supply 9LV combat control systems, Si Giraffe-4A and Si Giraffe-1X radar stations, CEROS-200 fire control systems, as well as third-party systems, including the "friend-foe"state identification system.
Saab, which is engaged as the general contractor of the project, will conclude a subcontract contract with the German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen to carry out work on the modification of a number of ship structures for the installation of new equipment, and the German company ESG will perform the functions of logistics support.
Currently, the German Navy has four Brandenburg-class frigates: Brandenburg (F215) built in 1994, Schleswig-Holstein (F216) built in 1995, Bayern (F217) built in 1996 and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (F218) built in 1996.
