Washington. August 3. INTERFAX-The United States has launched the global integrated naval exercises LSE 2021 (Large Scale Exercise 2021) with the involvement of main warships and amphibious landing forces, the US Navy said.
According to the US military, the LSE 2021 exercises, which will last until August 16, are " based on a scenario of global counteraction to the enemy forces that have challenged them."
It is noted that LSE 2021 is the largest exercise of the US Navy since the Cold War. The last exercises of this scale were held in 1981. At the same time, it is emphasized that, just as then, they must " demonstrate the determination of NATO and the capabilities of the United States in the conditions of strategic competition."
The US Navy indicated that the exercises should show the opponents the global capabilities of the American fleet to conduct coordinated operations in several theaters of military operations at once.
The integrated exercises involve about 36 warships, including aircraft carriers, missile cruisers, destroyers, attack submarines and large amphibious ships, as well as deck and naval aviation, marine corps units from five operational fleets and three Marine expeditionary divisions. In total, more than 25 thousand military personnel take part in them.
The global exercises of the US Navy will simultaneously take place in 17-hour zones.
According to American military publications, the largest global integrated exercises of American ship groups and amphibious landing forces over the past 40 years should show Russia and China that the United States can simultaneously respond to aggression on several fronts, including on the Black Sea, in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the South China and East China Seas.
