The 122 mm ammunition is designed for the upgraded BM-21U "Willow" multiple launch rocket system.

The ammunition from the State Enterprise "Yuzhnoye Design Bureau named after M. K. Yangel" was developed for the upgraded BM-21U "Willow" multiple launch rocket system.
According to Defense Minister Andrey Taran, the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau also successfully conducted state (flight) tests of repaired missiles for the Tochka-U tactical missile system.
Taran said that during the pilot repair, they were additionally equipped with an emergency flight termination system and a telemetry control system.
He added that now at the final stage of state tests is the creation of a high-precision 300 mm Vilkha-M missile with improved characteristics for modernized Smerch multiple launch rocket systems developed by the State Kiev Design Bureau Luch.
Taran noted that as part of the defense capability improvement program, the Defense Ministry will purchase the Sapsan operational and tactical missile system. Its manufacturer is the State Enterprise KB "Yuzhnoye", says UNIAN.
