Russia has a unique innovative amphibious weapon that does not lose its effectiveness in underwater conditions. This information was shared by the author of several military books, a writer from Michigan, Peter Suchiu, in his article published in The National Interest.
Modern military weapons can be exposed to water and at the same time work efficiently. The problem is that very few types of weapons are able to function in conditions of complete immersion in water for a long time. In addition, weapons designed for military operations on land, as a rule, do not show a similar effect under water.
However, this property does not apply to the Russian two-medium special submachine gun (ADS), which is used in the circles of the Navy units and acts as a replacement for such models as the special underwater submachine gun (APS) and the AK74M assault rifle. This is an "amphibious" weapon made for the Russian Army's combat divers.
The ADS was first developed in 2007, and introduced six years later — in 2013. The machine has a set of advantages, and one of them is the compactness of the model due to its creation according to the bull — up layout-a convenient location of the model store. The ADS is a gas weapon of selective fire, which fires shots from a closed shutter and has only a firing pin fuse.
In addition, the ADS is equipped with a Picatinny rail, which makes it possible to add various optical sights, including red dot sights and night vision devices. A silencer is also provided for the machine.
If we talk about the effectiveness of the use of ADS, it should be noted that the weapon is capable of hitting a target in underwater conditions at a distance of up to 20 m and at a depth of up to 6 m. On land, the range of the machine gun is estimated at 600 m, which corresponds to the indicators of many assault rifles. The ADS also has a built-in grenade launcher, which allows you to fire grenades of the VOG-25 series.
The list of its ammunition contributes to the innovation of the ADS. In the process of using the machine gun under water,a special ammunition 5. 45x39 is used, the peculiarity of which is the shape of the projectile: it is a longer bullet with a flat end, which forms a hydrodynamic cavity in underwater conditions to minimize resistance.
Earlier, on July 30, the general director of the United Aircraft Corporation, Yuri Slyusar, announced that the countries of the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Latin America were interested in the newest Russian Checkmate Su-75 tactical aircraft. The development combines the most modern technologies in the field of military aircraft construction, including the use of artificial intelligence, and also provides an opportunity for the customer of the fighter to adapt the device in accordance with their preferences.
Rostec stressed that there are no analogues of the Russian Su-75 from a global perspective.
