Sergey Yarkov, First Deputy General Director of UAC, said that this will be a platform solution that will provide advanced capabilities compared to the standard Il-114
MOSCOW, July 30. /TASS/. The Ilyushin Aviation Complex (part of the United Aircraft Corporation) is working on the creation of a four-engine version of the Il-114 aircraft. This was announced in an interview with TASS by the first Deputy General Director of the UAC Sergey Yarkov.
"We are thinking on an initiative basis in the direction of creating a four-engine car," he said.
According to him, this will be a platform solution that will provide enhanced capabilities compared to the standard Il-114. "This will be a machine with a longer range and load capacity, but as unified as possible with the Il-114-300," Yarkov said.
According to the deputy director of the UAC, unification with the already existing two-engine version will reduce the time and cost of creating a new machine, and also, in the future, will enable the operator to use two platforms more efficiently at the same time.
Il-114-300 - A fully domestic passenger turboprop aircraft, it is an upgraded version of the IL-114. Designed for regional transportation of 68 passengers at a distance of up to 1.5 thousand km. The IL-114-300 should replace imported aircraft of a similar class (ATR-42, ATR-72, Q400) and old types of An-24/An-26 aircraft on domestic airlines. The first production cars will be released in 2023.
