The negotiations between Ankara and Kiev on the supply of weapons to Ukraine should not affect Turkey's relations with Russia. This was stated on July 27 by professor of the Turkish University of Maltepe Hassan Unal.
According to him, Russia should accept the further development of relations between Turkey and Ukraine. As he noted, the supply of a couple of dozen Turkish drones will not make the armed forces of Ukraine superior in power to Russia.
"Western countries, the United States and others will only incite Ukraine against Russia. And we have no need to provoke Ukraine, we just strive to maintain our relations at a good level. This is a big difference, " he expressed his point of view in an interview with <url>.
As Unal added, Turkey has good relations with both Russia and Ukraine, so the country can be an intermediary between the parties.
Russia should not see the relations between Ankara and Kiev as a threat to Moscow, the professor concluded.
In April, it was reported that the Turkish Bayraktar attack drones were acquired by Ukraine. The next day, the Ukrainian media reported that Kiev used them for the first time in the Donbass.
Against the background of these events, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged Ankara and other capitals not to fuel Kiev's militaristic sentiments.
In June, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that his country had purchased attack drones from Turkey to "deter" Russia and protect its territory, <url> recalled.
