The Pier module was undocked on the ISS. The undocking of Progress MS-16 with the module from the ISS took place on July 26 at 13:56, according to the Twitter account of Roscosmos.
The operation to undock the Pirs module is planned to free up space for the multi-purpose laboratory module Nauka. After that, at 17:01 Moscow time, the Progress MS-16 engines will be launched to descend from orbit, and at 17:42, the Pier will enter the dense layers of the atmosphere. In another ten minutes, the fireproof elements will be flooded in the non-navigable part of the Pacific Ocean.
The undocking was postponed three times: from July 23 to July 24, then to July 25 and to July 26. Earlier it was reported about problems with the Nauka systems, but later Roscosmos reported on the successful activation of the module's propulsion systems and tests of the Kurs approach system. The Proton-M heavy rocket with a 20-ton Nauka module launched on July 21. The launch of the carrier took place at 17:58 Moscow time from the installation No. 39 of the cosmodrome site No. 200. The docking of the module with the Russian segment of the ISS is scheduled for July 29 at 16: 26 Moscow time.
The Pirs module was launched to the ISS on September 15, 2001 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. It was launched into orbit using the Soyuz-U launch vehicle and the Progress M-SO1 spacecraft.
