Tallinn. July 24. INTERFAX - The Iranian warship Sahand, which was heading for the naval parade in St. Petersburg, entered the territorial waters of Estonia on Friday without having permission to do so, and left them after the relevant order of the Estonian authorities.
"Yesterday (July 23 - ed.) in the evening, after ten o'clock, the Sahand ship heading for St. Petersburg entered the waters of Estonia from the northwestern side of Osmussaar Island," the police and Border Guard department told the ERR broadcasting portal.
According to the norms of international maritime law, ships can peacefully cross the territorial waters of another country, but, according to the law on the State Border of Estonia, foreign warships must notify the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the passage at least 48 hours in advance. The Sahand team did not do this.
"The Maritime Security Center gave Sahand an order to change course and leave the territorial waters, after which the ship headed back to the Estonian economic zone," the department noted.
At nine o'clock on Saturday morning, the ship entered the territorial waters of Russia.
