MOSCOW, July 24. /TASS/. A joint meeting of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria on the return of refugees and the restoration of peaceful life will be held in Damascus on July 26. This was reported to journalists on Saturday in the Russian Defense Ministry.
"Representatives of the Syrian authorities and organizations, the coordinators for Syria of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross will take part in the joint work of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria," the military department reported.
They noted that the event is aimed at giving an additional impetus to the solution of humanitarian problems in Syria, promoting the implementation of the Russian-Syrian agreements reached in November 2020 during the international conference on the return of refugees to Syria.
The meeting will be held as part of the working trip of the Russian delegation to Syria, which will be held from July 24 to 29. According to the Ministry of Defense, the event will host round tables, working meetings, meetings dedicated to discussing the main directions of Russian-Syrian cooperation, finding ways to solve key problems of returning Syrian refugees to their homeland and international humanitarian assistance to Syria.
"As a result of the work, it is planned to sign ten agreements and memoranda between the Russian and Syrian departments in the areas of legal assistance, network security, the customs union, trade and economic cooperation and educational activities," the ministry said.
The military department clarified that the Russian delegation, which includes representatives of 30 federal executive authorities and organizations, five subjects of the Russian Federation and the Russian Defense Ministry, will be headed by the head of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of the Russian Federation for the return of refugees to Syria - the head of the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev. In total, the delegation will include more than 230 people.
