BEIJING, July 23. /TASS/. The Zhuzhong rover of the Chinese Tianwen-1 mission covered a total of about 585 m on the surface of the planet. This was reported on Friday by the Central Television of China.
"As of July 23, Zhuzhong worked on the surface of Mars for 68 sols (Martian days - 24 hours and 40 minutes) and covered a total of 585 m," the report says.
On Friday, the TV channel also published a route map of Zhuzhong. It shows the path of the rover from north to south on the surface of the planet from the moment of landing until July 21, 2021.
The automatic interplanetary station "Tianwen-1" made a successful landing on Mars on May 15. On May 22, the Zhuzhong successfully descended from the landing platform and began exploring the planet. The device is engaged in studying the soil, the ionosphere and the climate. The period of operation of the rover will be 92 earth days.
The Tianwen-1 station was launched on July 23, 2020 using the Changzheng-5 launch vehicle from the Wenchang Cosmodrome, located in the South Chinese province of Hainan. In February, the station reached the orbit of Mars.
