ZHUKOVSKY /Moscow region/, July 23. /TASS/. Russia has received a request from India for the supply of carrier-based MiG-29K/KUB fighters. This was announced to TASS during the MAKS-2021 air show by Dmitry Shugaev, director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.
"The Russian side has received a preliminary request from its Indian partners for the supply of MiG-29K/KUB carrier-based fighters. Relevant proposals have been sent, " he said.
According to him, Russia is waiting for the announcement of a tender for the modernization of the MiG-29K/KUB. "Russia has also started consultations with India on the program of modernization of the fleet of MiG-29K/ KUB aircraft," the head of the FSVTS added.
The MiG-29K / KUB are multifunctional fighters of the 4++ generation designed to solve the tasks of air defense of ship formations, gain air supremacy, defeat surface and ground targets with guided precision weapons in all weather conditions. They are capable of reaching speeds of more than 2 thousand km / h and flying at a distance of up to 1.5 thousand km. MiG-29K/KUB fighters are the main carrier-based aircraft of the Indian Navy.
