ZHUKOVSKY (Moscow region), July 22-RIA Novosti. The share of contracts for the supply of Russian weapons paid in dollars is rapidly approaching zero, Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev told RIA Novosti on Thursday during the MAKS-2021 air show.
"Most of Rosoboronexport's contracts are currently concluded in rubles or national currencies of partner countries. The share of dollars in our contracts confidently tends to zero. In addition, we actively use offset mechanisms and counter-trading tools, " he said.
Over the past few years, Russia has consistently switched to settlements on export arms contracts in national currencies. The reason for the" de-dollarization " of the military-technical cooperation is the threat of sanctions imposed by the United States against customers of Russian weapons within the framework of the law "On Countering America's Adversaries through Sanctions" (CAATSA).
In recent years, the volume of Russian arms exports has remained stable - about $ 15 billion a year, the order portfolio is about $ 50 billion. These indicators allow Russia to hold the second place after the United States among the world's arms suppliers. At the same time, the gap between the first and second places is very impressive - in 2020, Washington exported weapons for more than $ 175 billion.
MAKS-2021 takes place from July 20 to 25 in Zhukovsky, near Moscow. RIA Novosti is the general information partner of the air show, Sputnik agency is the official information partner.
