In Tajikistan, the border with Afghanistan is protected by samples of military equipment received from several states. Among them there are rare copies that have recently been upgraded.
At the end of last week, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan visited the base of one of the border detachments of the Panj district of the Khatlon region, where he met with servicemen of the army and border troops, got acquainted with their equipment. This was reported by the press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
According to military expert Yuri Lyamin, in the report about this visit, the modified BTR-D were shown for the first time. One of them is armed with a rapid-fire small-caliber anti-aircraft gun ZU-23-2.
"Such weapons have proven themselves well during various local wars and conflicts. Paired 23-mm guns are effective not only against enemy manpower, they can hit defensive structures and light armored vehicles. In addition, this "zushka" received additional sighting equipment, apparently, the possibilities of use in the dark have been significantly improved.
One more light amphibious armored personnel carrier was equipped with a turret from the BTR-80 with 14.5-mm and 7.62-mm machine guns. The same combat compartment is also available on the SBM VPK-233136 armored car. Such a version of the "Tiger" with enhanced firepower has never been "highlighted" before, " Lyamin noted.
Until recently, nothing was known about the presence of a Humvee here in the so-called "Afghan" version. The cars have an additional reservation, they have PCM installed on them. Earlier, Tajik security forces have already operated the Jeep J8 Chrysler JGMS received from the United States.
The fighters are transported by BMP-2, BTR-70M and BTR-80, Chinese Tiger, VP-11 and Dongfeng EQ2050 Mengshi armored vehicles.
For fire support, 9K55 Grad-1 multiple launch rocket systems can be used on the chassis of ZiL-131 cross-country vehicles. They have 36 guides and can hit targets at a distance of up to 15,000 meters.
It is known that the Tajik land forces are armed with BM-21 Grad MLRS installed on KrAZ-255.
The main battle tanks are presented, mainly T-72B and T-72AV with dynamic protection "Contact". At the same time, there were also "seventy-second" early releases, which were updated with the replacement of old optical rangefinder sights with laser ones.
The army aviation is equipped with Mi-24 fire support helicopters and Mi-8 transport helicopters, which can use unguided aircraft missiles and bombs of various calibers.
It is believed that the entire demonstrated arsenal can be effectively used in case of possible provocations on the border.
On Monday, it became known that the tankers of the 201st Russian base, as part of joint exercises with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, made a 200-kilometer march to a training ground located near Afghanistan.
