The Russian light tactical aircraft (LTS), known as Checkmate ("Checkmate") or Su-75, belongs to the same class of fighters as the American single-engine aircraft of the fifth generation F-35 Lightning II, writes Air Force Magazine.
The publication of the American edition notes that the LTS resembles the American X-32, which lost in the F-35 Lightning II tender, as well as the YF-23, which lost to the F-22 Raptor. In particular, Checkmate received a large ventral air intake, reminiscent of that of the X-32, and a "short triangular wing with cut ends that does not reach the tail", which resembles the YF-23.
Air Force Magazine emphasizes that a number of solutions used in the Su-75 are borrowed from the Russian fifth-generation fighter Su-57, for example, a drop-back drop-shaped lantern and an infrared search and tracking system installed on the windshield, as well as, probably, a modified engine.
In July, Rostec presented the LTS at the International Aviation and Space Salon 2021 (MAKS-21). At the same time, the chief designer of the fighter said that the aircraft's onboard equipment is capable of attacking six and tracking up to thirty air targets. According to the head of the Rostec state Corporation Sergey Chemezov, a single-engine tactical fighter, the model of which was presented at MAKS-2021, will cost from 25 to 30 million dollars.
