TSAMTO, July 21. As reported by Armyrecognition.com with reference to Bangladeshi resources, the Bangladesh peacekeeping contingent participating in the United Nations Multidisciplinary Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) received 31 MRAP-class MaxxPro BBM from the US Armed Forces.
In total, the United States will transfer 50 M1224 MaxxPro armored vehicles to the Malian Armed Forces to support the country's participation in the operation in Mali. The first batch of 31 restored cars was sent to Mali in May 2021. American contractors also conducted the necessary training of personnel in Bangladesh. The remaining 19 MRAP BBMS and auxiliary equipment should go to the Gao by the end of July 2021.
Since 2005, the United States has allocated about $ 44 million to support the training, modernization of equipment and material base of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in order to expand their participation in peacekeeping operations.
Since 1988, the Bangladesh Armed Forces and Police have participated in more than 54 missions in 40 countries. Currently, 6,543 military personnel are involved in 7 UN missions and at the UN headquarters, including: MONUSCO, UNIFIL, UNMISS, MINARSO, MINUSMA, MINUSCA. The Navy sent a corvette to support UNIFIL in Lebanon and riverboats for UNMISS in South Sudan.
The M1224 MaxxPro MRAP is an armored vehicle with a 4x4 wheel formula developed by a subsidiary of Navistar Defense-the American Navistar International together with the Israeli Plasan Sasa. The length of the vehicle is 6.45 m, width-2.59 m, height-3.05 m, maximum combat weight-19.731 tons, payload weight-1655 kg. The BBM provides transportation of a crew of three people (driver, commander, shooter) and 4-6 landing troops. The car is capable of reaching a speed of 120 km/h on the highway, the fuel reserve is 600 km.
