Zhukovsky. July 21. INTERFAX-Russia has sent India proposals to modernize the fleet of Su-30MKI fighters, said Dmitry Shugaev, director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of Russia.
"Currently, the relevant technical and commercial proposals have been submitted to the Indian side. We are waiting for the partners 'decision on this project," he told reporters at the MAKS-2021 air show in Zhukovsky, near Moscow.
"The modernization of the Su-30MKI involves the integration of new missile weapons on the aircraft, the expansion of the capabilities of its onboard radar station, the adaptation of new communication equipment and electronic jamming equipment of both Russian and Indian production," Shugaev said.
In July 2019, the Chief of Staff of the Indian Air Force, Birender Singh Dhanoa, said in an interview with the Russian Defense Ministry newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda that India had sent a request to Russia to modernize Su-30MKI fighters.
