The potential customers of the new Russian single-engine light tactical aircraft (LTS) Checkmate include the countries of the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America, Sergey Chemezov, General Director of Rostec State Corporation, said in an interview with RIA Novosti at the MAKS-2021 air show.
"Of course, Checkmate LTS has a high export potential. Among the potential customers are the countries of the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America, " Chemezov said.
According to the head of Rostec, the new aircraft is capable of solving the entire range of tasks facing the customer, effectively destroying ground and sea targets, fighting for air supremacy in conditions of enemy numerical superiority. "The combination of high combat load, modern equipment and low cost of flight hours make the aircraft the most profitable according to the price - combat effectiveness criterion," Chemezov said.
He added that the Checkmate light tactical aircraft is "an aviation complex that is optimal for solving most urgent tasks at minimal financial costs, with a relatively low cost of the machine and flight hours, it has a very high combat efficiency."
"It has a radar with an active phased array antenna, which allows you to attack targets even in conditions of strong interference. At the same time, the onboard electronic suppression and defense system allows the aircraft to evade detection and destruction means, " the general director of the corporation said.
He noted that the use of various configurations of the Checkmate fighter " allows you to most accurately meet the needs of almost any potential customer." "Today, for the LTS, we are ready to offer the entire range of modern systems of the onboard equipment and weapons complex to the market. Each customer will choose exactly what he needs, " he added.
The prototype of the Checkmate light tactical fighter was presented for the first time at the MAKS-2021 Air Show on Tuesday. The aircraft is being developed by Sukhoi (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of the Rostec State Corporation). The machine is focused on export deliveries.
