The Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear – Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), L. Zerbo, met with the head of the Special Control Service, Deputy Head of the 12th Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Colonel Igor Tokarev, in Moscow.
The meeting summed up the results of cooperation between the CTBTO PC and the Russian Ministry of Defense (the national body for the CTBT) over the eight-year period of L. Zerbo's work as Executive Secretary.
The head of the international organization noted the progress in the creation and certification of the Russian segment of the International Monitoring System (IMS), which is under the jurisdiction of the Russian Defense Ministry. He stressed that the availability of data from Russian stations is higher than the average for MSM and is comparable to the level of other states of the nuclear "five".
He also expressed deep gratitude to the representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry for their comprehensive support of the activities of the CTBTO PC and for successful cooperation on the issues of the CTBT.
In his speech, Colonel Igor Tokarev confirmed the unwavering commitment of the Russian Federation to fulfilling its obligations under the Treaty, readiness to continue cooperation in the same vein and thanked for the joint work.
