ZHUKOVSKY (Moscow region), July 20-RIA Novosti. The newest light fighter of the fifth generation Checkmate will be ready within four years, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov told reporters on Tuesday.
The premiere of the project took place at the MAKS-2021 air show.
"Taking into account the maximum unification in terms of aviation weapons, component base, aggregates, and the design of the aircraft, it should be unified as much as possible with the Su-57 in order to reduce the cost of some components, so that the machine (Checkmate-ed.) is cheaper than the Su - 35. The main market for us will be international supplies, but we also expect, of course, that our Armed Forces will also acquire a certain amount of this equipment," he said.
The MAKS-2021 air Show takes place from July 20 to 25 in Zhukovsky, near Moscow. RIA Novosti is the general information partner of the MAKS-2021 air Show, Sputnik agency is the official information partner.
