The new Russian medium-haul aircraft MS-21-300 has the widest cabin in the class of single-aisle aircraft. A correspondent of Izvestia captured the interior of the airliner on video.
The airliner was presented during the MAKS-2021 International Aviation and Space Salon in Zhukovsky on July 20.
"A spacious interior. Here is the cockpit. By the way, the MC-21−300 cockpit also touched on import substitution. The upholstery, even the material for the chairs, was also changed from imported to domestic ones, " the journalist said.
According to him, a total of 54 parts, including hydraulics and rudders, were replaced from imported ones to Russian ones.
The wings of the aircraft were supposed to be made of composite materials, but Russian manufacturers fell under US sanctions in 2018 and were unable to purchase components abroad. As a result, several domestic enterprises joined the establishment of production at once.
In July of this year, the fully Russian composite wing of the MS-21-300 was docked with the fuselage of the aircraft.
Earlier on Tuesday, during a visit to the MAKS-2021 Aerospace Salon, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the MC-21 aircraft will soon be on the track. According to him, the samples of equipment presented at the air show show a great potential for the development of domestic aviation.
The MS-21 is a family of new-generation Russian passenger aircraft. They will be released in several modifications from 150 to 211 seats. The first flight of such an aircraft was made in May 2017. In December 2020, the MS-21-310 took off for the first time with Russian PD-14 engines. In May, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that Russia's competitors will not have analogues of the MS-21 in the near future.
