MOSCOW, July 20-RIA Novosti. Russia with a new single-engine aircraft, the prototype of which will be presented by Rostec on the first day of the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021, plans to take a significant share of the international market in the segment of single-engine fighters of the fifth generation, Dmitry Shugaev, director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS) of Russia, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"According to preliminary estimates, with this machine, we will be able to take a significant share of the market for single-engine fighters of the fifth generation," Shugaev said on the eve of MAKS-2021.

According to him, the aircraft will have breakthrough characteristics, "including high flight qualities, extensive strike and reconnaissance capabilities, the latest complex of avionics, reduced radar visibility and a number of other know-how." "At the same time, its cost, if we do not disclose all the cards, let's say, will be as competitive as possible," the director of the Federal Customs Service added.

Shugaev stressed that " the newest Russian single-engine multi-purpose aircraft, the prototype of which will be shown on the first day of the air show, is a machine focused primarily on export supplies."

As a source in the defense industry told RIA Novosti at the end of May, Rostec is developing Russia's first light multi-purpose fighter of the fifth generation with a single engine. The new aircraft with reduced radar visibility and super maneuverability should have a take-off weight of no more than 18 tons, its maximum speed will exceed Mach two.

The developer of the machine is the Sukhoi company (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of the Rostec State Corporation).

MAKS-2021 takes place from July 20 to 25 in Zhukovsky, near Moscow, on the territory of the Gromov LII. RIA Novosti is the general information partner of the air show, Sputnik agency is the official information partner.
