Washington. July 20. INTERFAX-Russia and the United States are expected to hold consultations on strategic stability on July 28, The Hill reports.
"It is expected that US and Russian officials will meet on July 28 to hold the first dialogue on strategic stability at the negotiations on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons..." the newspaper notes.
In an article devoted to the attempts of Republican Senator Ted Cruz to delay the approval of candidates for key posts in the US administration, it is reported that the State Department and Democrats of the US Senate are particularly critical of him for blocking the approval of Bonnie Jenkins for the post of US Deputy Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security.
"Jenkins will be the senior official involved in these negotiations, and it is extremely important that we have a Senate-confirmed leader... with this huge responsibility, on the eve of these historic negotiations with Russia, " a State Department representative told the publication.
