Development of a modified turboprop engine TV7-117ST-02

As reported by JSC "United Engine Corporation" (UEC, as part of the Rostec State Corporation), the St. Petersburg JSC "UEC-Klimov", which is part of it, received a technical task for the creation of the TV7-117ST-02 engine for a turboprop regional aircraft (TVRS-44). which is being developed by the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (JSC "UZGA"). At the moment, pre-contract work is underway. It is planned to start mass production of new power plants in 2025.

The engine modification will be created on the basis of the TV7-117ST-01 certified engine for the passenger Il-114-300, which made its first flight in December 2020. The new power plant will have a take-off power of 2400 hp and reduced fuel consumption. Unlike the base engine, the TV7-117ST-02 will receive a closed oil system and a new aircraft generator with a higher rotation speed to reduce weight.

Other differences of the new power plant will be an electric start instead of an air one (a modern starter-generator will be used), as well as updated strapping, electrical system, designs of the automatic control and control unit. In addition, the engine mounting units will be adapted to the suspension on the aircraft.

"The implemented project meets two global goals-it contributes to the development of domestic competencies in the field of civil aircraft construction and covers the country's needs in regional aviation. We plan to produce the first prototypes for preliminary tests by mid-2023, and at the end of 2023 - to put the engines on the TVRS for flight tests. Serial production of TV7-117ST-02 is planned to begin in 2025, " said Vsevolod Eliseev, General Designer of UEC-Klimov JSC.

TVRS-44 is a turboprop regional passenger aircraft in the class of 40-50 seats, designed to replace the fleet of obsolete aircraft of state aviation and regional airlines of both Soviet (An-24, Yak-40, An-26B-100) and Western (Dash 8-200, Dash 8Q-300) development. It is created by the Ural Civil Aviation Plant.
