TSAMTO, July 16. The Lithuanian Defense Ministry announced the delivery of Spike LR anti-tank guided missiles intended for Vilkas infantry fighting vehicles of the country's Armed Forces, which was completed at the end of June.
The contract for the acquisition of the Spike LR ATGM was signed and implemented by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) in cooperation with the international organization OCCAR (Organization Conjointe de Cooperation en Matiere d'Armement).
As reported by TSAMTO, in December 2017, the NATO Support and Procurement Agency signed a guaranteed service level agreement with the Organization for Cooperation in the Field of Armaments (OCCAR), providing for the supply of ammunition and missiles for the Boxer BBM of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The sale price was not disclosed. Deliveries should be made in several batches from September 2018 to June 2021.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces command signed a contract for the supply of 88 multi-purpose BBM "Boxer" with an 8x8 wheel formula in an adapted version through OCCAR in August 2016. The agreement also included the supply of three training machines, related services and equipment with the ARTEC joint venture formed by Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. The contract value was 385.6 million euros ($437 million).
Adapted to the requirements of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, the Boxer armored vehicle bears the national designation "Vilkas" (Vilkas). It is armed with a Samson Mk.2 SAMV of the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems with a 30-mm MK-44S automatic cannon, a 7.62-mm machine gun paired with it and a launcher with two Spike-LR ATGMS.
