The Taliban claim the destruction of a helicopter of government forces at the Kunduz airport
Kabul. July 16. INTERFAX - The United States has provided Afghanistan with seven new combat helicopters with the ability to accurately target and intercept day and night, the press service of the 209 Shokhin Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA) reported on Friday.
"The helicopters were delivered to Kabul today and should be officially handed over to the Air Force at a special ceremony. According to the plan, more helicopters will be delivered to Afghanistan in the coming months," the report says.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Taliban movement (banned in Russia) say that on Friday, militants destroyed a helicopter of government forces in north-eastern Afghanistan.
"An enemy Black Hawk helicopter used in bombing civilians was destroyed as a result of a tactical attack at the Kunduz airport this morning. A few days ago, as a result of a similar attack, four more helicopters were destroyed," Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the movement, said on Friday morning.
Another Taliban report says that the militants of the movement have reached the city gates of Shebergan, the administrative center of Jowzjan province, in the north-west of the country. The Taliban say they will soon begin storming the provincial center.
